Birdy Wreath Decoupage Box
Hello My Crafty Friends ,
Today
i have come up with a beautiful decoupage box. It goes without saying that my
love for birds reflect in my art projects.
For
my today's project i have taken a very beautiful birdy wreath Decoupage napkin.
I
started by taking a desired MDF box . I
primed it using Acrylic gesso and let it dry. When done painting check corners
and edges to make sure the paint has not pooled or thick. Brush off excess paint
with your paintbrush.
Once
the paint is completely dry to touch, I took my decoupage napkin . Experiment
with the design to determine the placement of the paper. Measure the sides of the
box and cut the paper accordingly. Measure the paper by placing it on the
sides. Always take some extra size of paper so as to avoid mistakes. Since my
napkin is 3 ply , I carefully removed the two layers from beneath. Only the
printed napkin layer is the one that is going to be used.
Evenly
apply a thin layer of Decoupage Glue on the surface. Place the paper carefully
onto the box surface. You will have only a few seconds to make minor
adjustments in the paper position. Rub gently but firmly with a sponge from the
centre towards the edges to get good contact and remove any bubbles
Once
the Napkin has been glued , let it stand to completely dry out. Once the napkin
seems to stuck well and dry, apply another layer of decoupage glue with a flat
brush. Also apply the decoupage glue over the edges and corners of the paper so
as to completely seal it.
Sand
the edges to remove any extra paper and be careful not to tear the paper .
Next
I punched a flower border on a yellow sheet using my paper punch and glued it
on the sides of the lid of the box. For the base sides of the box I choose
yellow colour matching with the printed paper. Once the paint is dry I used a
leaf stencil and white paint for stencilling .
You can also make stripes in two colours if you dont want to do the stencilling effect.
Once
the paint is dry. I varnished the box completely.
And
my decoupage box is ready .
I hope you found my today's project easy and will try making a box for yourself too.
Until i come up with another project
Lots of crafty hugs
